Having met while studying at Berklee College of Music in 2008, the Disco Fries duo grabbed the attention of major record labels and quickly landed a gig to produce the official remix of Flo Rida’s “Sugar”. Since then, the duo has supported some of the biggest names in pop such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Usher, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Mike Posner, Steve Aoki, and Cobra Starship. Last year the Disco Fries released their debut single “Killers” featuring vocals from Clinton Sparks. The release was followed up with a truly haunting music video complete with steampunk ghouls and lots of blood. The Disco Fries are perhaps best known for their 2010 remix of “Like a G6” that takes the pop hit and turns it into a crunchy, club banger.
I found the Disco Fries a while back when searching for remixes to play at a dance and came across their remix of “I Wanna Go” by Britney Spears in which they turn a cliched pop song into a house anthem. My favorite remix of theirs by far is their remix of Avicii’s “Silhouettes”. They stretch the build and let the melody chill before building with the lyrics that will make you loose control. And then, the bass drops hard with a fast, heavy-hitting bassline that you cannot resist dancing to.
Just this past week, the duo have released their most recent single and an accompanying remix by the Loopers. The song, entitled “Heartbeat” featuring Jeremy Carr and Hyper Crush, has a catchy chorus and infectious bassline that shows off the sounds that the Disco Fries are known for.
“Heartbeat” is available for purchase on Beatport through record label Strictly Rhythm.
