Logically, I’m All About Castro

PLAY “World Wide”

My high school had a pretty lively rap scene, which I found humorous coming from a graduating class of 69 students (I’m not kidding). A small private school in DC isn’t really somewhere I would have expected to find much of anything other than designer jeans and therapy bills that could be mistaken for small trust funds. However, a number of kids have been able to actually do something with their music and their talent by getting involved with the Ratt Pack, and my favorite member, C Dot Castro.

Straight out of the 301 (Gathersburg, MD), the Ratt Pack have quickly been moving up the ladder, but although it’s been a long time coming, the name itself stems from something much older. Logic, who is featured on Castro’s latest track, is undoubtedly the most famous of the group, and presents himself under the name Young Sinatra, a man after my own heart. As an homage to the jazz-genius, Logic’s Ratt Pack is named after the original Rat Pack, which consisted of Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Sinatra himself. If that’s not awesome, I don’t know what is.

Castro is one of the lesser known members of the group, but if you ask me, that needs to change. His beats are churning and smooth, and his rhymes are just as sick. Worldwide, literally, Castro speaks to his ability,

“The way that I damage the stage when I kill it

Don’t even be speaking my language

They feel it from Paris to Germany,”

Universally acquiring fans, simply because you can do just that: feel his music. His lyrics are clever and perhaps a bit harsh, but nothing makes for a better track than a line that actually catches your attention, such as:

“Spit shit so sick it make them all throw up,”

much like the arms of anyone at his shows. Hands all thrown up (in the air, of course). But don’t worry, he mentions that in an earlier verse. I’m not as clever as Castro. His video for Boomerang is just as strong as his newest release, suggesting prosperity for where this man is heading. For those in Maryland, Castro will be performing in early August, and you know I’m gonna be there, so keep your eyes and ears out, cause Castro’s going worldwide.
